Down To The River

I know you all saw this freaking incredible wedding on Once Wed, but I *had* to talk about how much I loved that they walked down the forest path (!) to their beach wedding to a blue grass band playing I Went Down To The River To Pray. I love the song, I love how grounded it is, and I love how beautifully symbolic it is for a wedding by a body of water.

We need more creative use of old standards in weddings, so say I! And can I mention how much I adore the new indie wedding trend of Bluegrass bands?

I also love the trend of Bluegrass bands. My friend had one at her recent wedding and it was one of the best weddings ever.

I have always been a bluegrass girl, we have a great festival next month here in Tacoma! I am already getting pumped up for it! The last wedding we shot had such a fun bluegrass band I couldn't help but dance a little!

Beautiful heartwrenching song. I love how the muted undertones of the whole thing (even her BOOTS!!) match the scenery and the people. Lovely lovey.

Oh! Oh! I had somehow missed that part (on account of staring at that nice groom and that nice, mellow bride). It's even nicer than I thought. Mmmmm.

Oh I love that song. I wanted to walk down the aisle to it but The Boy said no - too religious. It was one of our few big wedding fights - the aisle song.

I love her hair! Such a relaxed style..

I also love her cardigan!

Wow. We're having the least-religious wedding you can have in a chapel, but god that's a beautiful song! I'm now having fantasies of using my gorgeous girlfriends as a choir (five were in the school choir; and three have studied music at uni). First plan was to use partner's friend - a stunning blues singer - to do All I Want is You by Barry Louis Polisar... but now... any suggestions for less overtly religious gospel songs?

This wedding is completely stunning. I'm familiar with the store where the bride bought her dress. I think it's fair to point out that it probably retails for $5000+. But she makes a strong case for blowing half your budget on a gown. I've never seen a prettier bride.

Ohhh!! Do tell! Where do you even get a dress like that?

Oddly, I'm sort of on board with spending a good chunk of your budget on one big thing you really care about, and skipping all the stupid little useless bits other people want you to care about.
