...Is much funnier in the middle of wedding planning. If you haven't seen it recently, go rent it. I do hope someone uses the phrase "nightmare of recriminations and violence" in our toast.
And I know I've already mentioned it, but I'm bitter about the fact that we have no excuse to wear fabulous hats to weddings on this side of the pond.

I know it. How fabulous would hats be?! I love the look of oversized, and overdecorated hats! So fun!
I had no idea that wearing a hat to weddings was a peculiarly British thing. I just assumed everyone did it. I love being able to wear a hat. Being able to get married at a castle is pretty fabulous too.
I totally agree. I watched it a couple of months ago and I couldn't believe how much funnier it was!
Ditto. I almost want to include on the invitation "Pretty hats required" :)
It had never occured to me either that people wouldn't wear hats or fascinators to a wedding. Glad to know that some of the elements you listed on the other post are 'Americanisms' and can therefore be left out... There is enough to plan already without rehearsal suppers and bridal showers and grooms cakes and so on.
Happy New Year Meg.x
I haven't seen that one, but I know that I suddenly am much more into wedding/wedding planning movies and they seem rather relevant, whereas before I sort of brushed them off.
Thankfully, I am marrying into a British family. There will be hats at our wedding!
I just discovered fascinators and I am so sad our wedding guests won't be wearing any... unless I steal Krista's idea and request it on the invite! ;) Mine will say "Fancy headwear is mandatory!"
And not just hats, but living in a city like Seattle, I just wish sometimes it was required to even dress up!
I'm loving a good wedding film these days - and I think that four weddings is on telly this week! looking forward to Bride Wars coming out too..
I wish that I could make hat wearing mandatory, though I have a feeling more than a couple of ladies will oblige anyway.
Who says you need an excuse? Oh, and just found your site and clearly am going to give you a shout out @ 'Mama Gets Married Come on by!
