Sponsor Introduction: The Esthete

Remember back when I was freaking out, wondering if I could get my makeup done for my wedding and still be a feminist? And then remember how I decided of course I freaking could? And then remember how I couldn't find anyone that would do my hair and makeup for less than $700 and I sort of laughed and fainted?
Well. I'm pretty excited to introduce our newest sponsor (and Team Practical member) Crystal, or The Esthete, wedding makeup artist extraordinaire. She's a freelance makeup artist in Boston, and oh my gooooooddddddd I'm so excited to have her on board as a wedding elf because she is so amazing. Amazing low-key philosophy? Check! Out of control talent? Check! Green and sustainable makeup? Check! Affordable (and I swear to god willing to work on a sliding scale if you can't afford her)? CHECK!
Ahhhhhh. Do you see why I'm so excited?? Where was The Esthete last August, huh? Oh, and she refers to you as "the glorious ladies that make up Team Practical." Sigh. Indeed.

Ok, so now I'm going to quote the lady herself:

I believe every woman is beautiful, and that my job is to allow makeup to be an accessory to that beauty, not a mask to it. I don't do this full time, as more of a passion-filled hobby, and when I do weddings the joy and pleasure I get out of it comes from the relationship I have with the bride (and her friends and family) and the experience of getting to witness one of the most beautiful and intimate moments of a woman's life...the hour or so before she gets married. I am less interested in making money from makeup and more interested in being there for woman who really want that service, that experience and indulgence, on their wedding day- with natural, sophisticated, healthy makeup.And... what else is there to say? Read about the lady herself, and check out her jaw dropping portfolio, and then do a little dance Boston-ladies-who-are-looking-for-wedding-makeup. Today is your lucky day!

PS We need Crystal in every city in America I think, stat.

Could someone in Tucson please start this up? Like, STAT? Or shall I just drop everything and get married in Boston?

HUZZAH, HUZZAH, A TEAM PRACTICAL VENDOR IN BOSTON!!

Ahem. Sorry for the excitement; after seeing such phenomenal photographers, DJ's, and other vendors in California, I am beyond excited to see a vendor in my home city of Boston.

And, of course, I've been debating doing my own makeup, but this might just tip the scales... Thank you SO much, Meg, this is amazing.

For those women of color out there, I've found that it's not nearly as expensive for us to get our makeup and hair done for weddings...for whatever reason.

So don't fret!

Sorry if you've been feeling tapped out lately. I really enjoy your blog--and I'm not even getting married. It's your personal posts that I like the best, even though you may feel you have to censor yourself sometimes. That's understandable.

So, yeah. It's about community. And you've built up a great one here :)

Thanks for your kind words about...well, what I do I guess and my portfolio! I can't wait to meet you Boston ladies and its so exciting to be a part of this community. To the ladies in other cities- I can travel to upstate NY and greater New England. Everywhere else- I will just have to do my best to spread a philosophy of real beauty and get others to jump on the band wagon!
